CARES Act + Distance Learning

As you may have seen, the federal government has allocated funds towards an emergency relief fund called the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act. You now may be wondering what that means for you, your school, and your district. That’s where MobileMind comes in.

Of the $2 Trillion involved with the CARES Act, approximately $13.2 Billion has been set aside for K-12 schools. Additionally, it is important to know that while these funds are based on the allocation of Title I funds, they are different than Title I funds.  As of now, the funding has not been distributed, so it is tough to know exactly how much anyone will receive, but once and application is submitted, the U.S. Department of Education will have 30 days to respond to an application for the funds. The amount each state is receiving can be found here.

When it comes to how the money may be spent, there is quite a bit of flexibility. The funding should go towards: at-risk student populations, school meals, mental health, supplemental learning, facilities and equipment, and distance learning. Spending around distance learning may include: cost of devices, connectivity, printing learning packets, and other costs (hardware, software, subscriptions), and the professional development that comes with using more technology.

MobileMind is a personalized learning platform designed to support teachers with transforming learning with Google tools.  We have developed two entirely new distance learning tracks to lay a foundation for success as teachers facilitate learning from afar using G Suite. MobileMind’s cloud-based learning hub equips busy educators with skills to better leverage apps like Google Classroom, Hangouts Meet, Forms, Docs, and other Google tools.

The funding your district / school may receive can be applied towards MobileMind subscriptions if you wish to offer your educators this simple and innovative personalized learning opportunity. At their own pace, teachers can tackle "bite-sized" learning with our time-conscious micro-courses accompanied by hands-on Google challenges. MobileMind offers learning that is geared toward teachers, leaders, and staff in order to equip all stakeholders with the skills to leverage G Suite during these times of distance learning and remote work. From total beginners to veteran Google users, MobileMind meets learners where they are, regardless of their goals to technology experience.
